St Thomas School in Groombridge is a Church of England aided primary school. It has a capacity for 210 children, from reception year through to Year 6.

The school's Ofsted report identified a shortfall in the available outdoor learning space for the reception class. WKCS proposed a colonial style covered veranda area designed to blend with character of the existing building. The scheme incorporated a water pump feature for enhanced play.

Our team arrived on site at the beginning of the holidays and the work was carried out before the start of the new term with time to spare. We ensured that the ongoing maintenance of the structure would be minimised by installing a high-spec, single-ply membrane to the roof and by using high-spec paint products for the finish.

"It is a testament to the skill and professionalism of West Kent Construction Services that this project has been admired be the whole community. The project has been praised by Ofsted and the School Improvement Partner."
